Part-time Family Support Officer, Thanet
Based at Green Banks, Margate
Permanent contract, 16 hours per week, with the possibility of a flexible working pattern
Wage: £9.00 – £9.50 per hour, depending on skills and experience
25 days holiday (pro rata) per year, plus 8 English Bank Holidays
Us: As a charity, our mission is to help improve the lives of disabled children, young people and their families across East Kent, using our specialist knowledge and experience as parents, carers and service users.
You: Will advise parents of disabled children and young people on issues relating to their child(ren)’s disability(s), signposting or referring on as necessary. In addition, working with our Family Support Officer for Swale, you will organise and deliver a programme of fun events, activities and days out for families (including during school holidays), and develop an ongoing programme of workshops and training to meet parents’ needs. You will work primarily in Thanet, but could be asked to work further afield in East Kent on occasion.
You will have previous experience of working with disability, a good knowledge of the issues facing families with disabled children, and knowledge of the services available to support them. You will be able to deliver or facilitate workshops, either through previous experience or following training, and will enjoy designing, promoting and running small events. You will have good organisational skills, be able to manage your own caseload and will use your knowledge of the East Kent community when organising activities, events and days out.
