4us2 is a charitable company, limited by guarantee. The charity is governed a Board of trustees (or directors) who are all volunteers, and employs a number of members of staff.
Our trustees are all volunteers and do not receive salaries for what they do. The Board of trustees sets the direction of 4us2’s work, making strategic decisions, giving the staff and volunteers guidance and insights, monitoring 4us2’s financial situation, and evaluating the performance of the charity. At the moment we have six trustees on the board, four of whom are parents of disabled children. If you are interested in finding out more about being a trustee of 4us2, please contact the Manager at 4us2 or any member of the Board.
Our Chair: Justine Gates
Justine lives in Faversham and has been involved with 4us2 since the start. She is Mum to two fabulous young people, one of whom has Downs Syndrome, the other who has Aspergers. Justine is passionate about helping families, cutting through red tape and supporting disabled children and young people to get what they want from life.
Our Vice Chair: Nigel Wootton
Nigel Wootton, who lives in Herne Bay, joined the charity as a non-parent trustee in January 2011 following his retirement from government service. His aim is to draw on his many years experience of working in and improving public services to help develop 4us2 into a first class organisation that understands and meets the needs of local disabled children and their families. In a previous job he spent several hours dismantling a very expensive Porsche whilst its owner, the Beatle George Harrison, stood and watched with seemingly great inner calm.
Our Treasurer: Chris Page
Chris lives near Faversham and is a retired solicitor. He is committed to helping children and young people with disabilities, and understands the problems small charities can face. He has a good eye for detail!
Karan lives with her family in Herne Bay.
Andrea is a former Manager of 4us2 and has a son aged 19 who has CHARGE Syndrome and ASD. She lives in Ramsgate.
Jen lives in Ramsgate and has two young sons with learning / behavioural disabilities. Jen knows it is sometimes a struggle to get professionals to listen to parents and understand, and she wants to help more families get their voices heard.
Gerrie lives in Herne Bay and has a young son with Downs Syndrome. Gerrie is keen to use her own experiences to help others.
Operations Manager: Victoria Elliott
Victoria was 4us2’s Family Support Officer for Thanet for three years before moving up to become our Operations Manager in January 2017. Victoria lives in Broadstairs with her family and mad dog. One of her children has ASD. Victoria has done many jobs in the past including acting, sales and working as a teaching assistant. Having fought her own battles around education, school transport and diagnosis, she knows what it is like for families trying to do the best for their children.
Family Support Officer Swale: Louise Asekokhai
Louise lives in Faversham and has two children, both of whom have a disability / additional need. Louise volunteered with the Citizens Advice Bureau for many years before beginning work with 4us2, and has a very good knowledge of which agencies can offer what help, and how to find things out. She is passionate about helping families of disabled children to find the information and assistance that they need. She is also addicted to entering on-line competitions and makes everyone in the office jealous with her tales of wonderful items she has won.
Family Support Officer Thanet: Jemma McFadyen
Jemma joined 4us2 in January 2017. She lives in Thanet with her family. Jemma has a wealth of experience in supporting disabled children and young people and their families, having previously worked at the Royal School for Deaf Children Margate.
