Our policiesOur Annual Reports

4us2 was set up in 2010 to help improve the lives of disabled children and young people and their families across East Kent, an area that includes hidden pockets of deprivation, most notably in Thanet and Swale. The charity is parent-led, which means that the majority of the Board of Trustees, who govern how the charity operates and what it does, will always be parents or carers of disabled children or young people.

This makes us unique and gives us a special role: we don’t just represent parents, carers and families of disabled children: we are parents / carers of disabled children and young people. We provide advice and support, workshops and training, social events and days out. We have specialist locality knowledge and we listen, understand, and take action.

We can help disabled children (aged 0 to 12) and young people (aged 12 to 25) and their parents, carers and siblings.

4us2 is a membership organisation. Membership helps us to

  • build a better relationship with the people we serve
  • gather information on who uses our services and design and tailor better services accordingly
  • send out regular info to the right people
  • survey members on their views
  • develop volunteering opportunities and volunteer recruitment
  • develop focus groups and training opportunities

4us2 believes in:

  • Empowering parents of disabled children and young people so that they can make informed choices about what is best for their families
  • Increasing disability awareness so that there is acceptance and inclusion of disabled children and young people in all walks of life
  • Enabling disabled children and young people to have access to the same opportunities as all other children so that they can maximise their potential
